Description

Use this app if you're looking to sync your phone with your YNAB 4 budget. If you're a YNAB 4 user, we'll still be supporting YNAB 4 (and this companion app) all through 2016.

If you're looking for the companion app that syncs with our new web application, you'll want to download our latest app called, simply, "YNAB".

What's New in Version 3.3.4

- Fixed a rare bug where activity in a category could reset the budgeted amount to zero

Great! But needs one improvement.

:
I bought the Ynab desktop version after a few days with the trial and I just fell in love. Previously I had always done my budget on a spreadsheet so this program was awesome!

After I got Ynab desktop I was convinced that I needed this app. I need my finances to go cause I am always out. So this app is perfect! Except for one thing...

The syncing on this app is terrible. Every single time you want to sync with your budget on the pc you have to enter the ip address and password every single time. That is really annoying.

The syncing should be one press of the button on the phone and syncing should then be done. No passwords or ip addresses.

Another thing, whenever I add a transaction on the app it seems to just pick some random account that the money is coming from. This should be blank or you should be able to set a default account.

After these things are implemented I will rate five stars.

Stable-Great Support

:
I would like to give this app a 4.5 stars if I could. Let me start by saying, I have spent around sixty dollars if not more on financial apps. My goal originally was to get a stand alone app for the phone. If this is your goal, this app won't work for you. The best stand alone app by far would be Pocket Money, minus the support. There support has really gone down hill.

YNAB has by far the best support. In the venture for the best phone app and the new syncing technologies I really liked the idea of being able to work on the home computer as well. During that adventure and elaborate testing, YNAB is by far head and shoulders above all the competition. Secondly, by keeping the app more simple, their syncing is the most stable and reliable on the market. The iPhone app is simple, easy and straight forward. Data entry on the phone is easy with multiple ways of entering. You can enter transactions either from an account or from the budget screen and even split categories.

The downside for those interested in a stand alone app:
Once done syncing transactions are locked on the phone.
Can't check of cleared items.
Really can't use it for a stand alone app.
Can't make transfers on the phone.
Can't edit budget on the phone.

With all that said, if you are looking for a budgeting app to work with at home and on the road, I have not found one that is more stable, or has better support. Their website also has the best video tutorials, great financial training and live web seminars.

Before you download the app, I suggest the trial desktop app. If you then become hooked, download the iPhone app. They even have a thirty day money- back guaranty.

I guess I really got long winded. I have never left this long of a review, but was to pleased not to do so.

Exactly what I needed **almost**

:
I ditto everything written by the reviewer HimuraKenshin. I also had a spreadsheet program to do my budgeting, and it was set up **almost** exactly like the desktop version of YNAB except for the major fact that I had to input my figures manually. I love the concept of YNAB-- it is exactly what I needed to stay on track without the hassle of exporting iBank reports. This budget program, along with the iPhone companion is automated enough to make things easy (but I also wish for a cloud sync feature) while allowing for enough manual entry that you can fiddle around with things during set up to get the correct figures in place. Five stars for cloud syncing--
